Abstract

This work aims to address the relevance of initiation rituals - circumcision - in the conservation of traditional African values ​​among the Ovimbundu community in the locality (city of lubango) in the municipality of Lubango. It consists of an introduction and two chapters, the first of which is called theoretical foundation. In the same way, the scientific theoretical framework of the concepts of rites, rituals and circumcision over time and in some communities is made. The intention of the approach was to create a theoretical and scientific support for the exploration of the main theme in the second chapter of the work that has to do with the male initiation rite -. Circumcision – in the Ovimbundu of Lubango and the second chapter, the fulcrum of the work, dealt with the rites of male initiation – circumcision – in the Ovimbundu in the municipality in the city of Lubango. An exploration of the theme was made to show its relevance in terms of conservation of traditional values ​​among the Ovimbumdu of the municipality of Lubango and the work also contains conclusions, suggestions, bibliography and annexes. The city of Lubango da, Province of Huíla was chosen as the field of action for the work at the end of the course. relevant, the need to carry out more studies in the field of circumcision rites in the conservation of traditional African values ​​in order to help the cultural reaffirmation of the people of Angola
