Construção e Implementação de um Ambiente Virtual de Aprendizagem para Ensino a Distância da Disciplina Desenho de Página Web do Curso de Informática Educativa do ISCED- HUÍLA

Abstract

In order to contribute to the evolution, innovation, and integration of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in higher education, we conducted the present research, the research problem of which was: How to develop and implement a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to support online distance learning in the Web Page Design (WPD) discipline of the Educational Informatics Program at ISCED Huíla? To address this issue, we initially conducted a literature review concerning the integration of VLEs into the educational system. We diagnosed the teaching and learning process of the WPD discipline within the aforementioned program and institution, where the results extracted from the diagnosis highlighted the need for evolution in the teaching and learning process, emphasizing the importance of incorporating new models aligned with the changes brought by ICT in teacher training and educational methods enhancement. The research objective was defined as follows: to develop and implement a VLE using the MOODLE technology to serve as an online distance learning platform for the WPD discipline of the Educational Informatics Program at ISCED – Huíla. This research was conducted through a simple applied research approach, involving one professor and approximately 65 students in their third year of Educational Informatics, with 45 students in the diagnostic phase and 20 students in the VLE evaluation phase. Concerns of this research included constructing the VLE using MOODLE and understanding the suitability of the respective VLE in the teaching and learning process of the WPD discipline. After developing the platform, the professor tested the VLE in the aforementioned teaching and learning process over an academic semester. This action allowed us to evaluate the teaching and learning process of the discipline supported by the VLE we developed, using a questionnaire. The results obtained highlight that the use of the MOODLE platform proved to be an effective solution for improving the in-person teaching of the Web Page Design discipline. In conclusion, the creation and implementation of a VLE based on MOODLE in the teaching and learning process are fundamental steps to enhance the quality of education offered in the Educational Informatics Program at ISCED-Huíla and to promote online distance learning.
