A leitura dos Alunos da 7ª Classe no Colégio nº 908 - Quilengues: Propostas Metodológicas

Abstract

The work, entitled «Reading by 7th grade students at Colégio no 908 – Quilengues: Methodological Proposals», arises from the need for a curricular complement in the Portuguese Language Teaching course. The objectives to be achieved are: to contribute to the improvement of the quality of reading teaching at Colégio no 908, the general, specific: characterize the Colégio no 908; reflect on the reading; analyze the different aspects of students' reading; propose strategies to improve students' reading; the research question raised is: what reading level do students from school no 908 have? The work was based on the ideas of: Cruz (2007), Ramos & Naranjo (2013), Gonçalves (2013), Santos (2014), Silva & Fuza (2016), Pereira (2009), Azevedo (2007), Picanço & Vansiler (2014). The reading observation form with items: correction in punctuation and intonation, influence of reading, rhythm, expressiveness and articulation was elaborated based on the theories of the authors above, which had been applied in the 7th grade classes A, B, C, D, E and F, regular covering 45 students out of a total of 278. The students presented difficulties in the item’s correction in punctuation, reading fluency, rhythm, expressiveness and articulation, with 404.59% of negativity, these difficulties must be overcome and 95% were qualified. The research shows that, of the (6) classes of the 7th regular observed, they present reading difficulties from the point of view of correction in the punctuation 83.75%, 16.25% obey the punctuation, reading fluency 83.75%, 16.25 % are fluent, rhythm 74.4% 25.4% have acceptable rhythm, expressiveness 81.9%, 18.03% showed quality in expressive intonation, articulation 80.79%, and only 19.17% showed qualities. It is recommended that the Ministry of Education should expand and monitor the process of distribution of manuals to students and guardians need to pay attention so that their students do not lack the manuals; guide schools to strict compliance with the number of students of 35 for each class to avoid overcrowding students in classrooms so that teachers can deal with students every day of reading.
