O Colonialismo Português e o Povoamento Branco no Sul de Angola: O Caso da Região de Capelongo no Município da Matala (1950-1975).

Abstract

The 19th century was a period marked by the exploitation of resources, and the overseas territories began to intensify work, growing and following the logic of an economic ideal based on white settlement and the exploitation of these territories and their resources. However, this work consists of three chapters; in the first chapter there was a brief characterization of Portuguese colonialism, colonialism and colonial ideology, colonization and African culture, colonial historiography and the history of colonized peoples, the occupation of Angola and resistance to the occupation of Angola. In the second chapter, we address the geographical location, the importance of the Capelongo region in the development of the colony of Angola, the causes of the failure of the Capelongo settlement project, and the first attempts at white colonization in southern Angola. As a general objective it was traced: to analyze the Portuguese colonialism and the white settlement in the south of Angola in the region of Capelongo municipality of Matala. As specific objectives it was traced: To describe the importance of the Capelongo region in the development of the colony of Angola; Explain the action of Portuguese colonialism in the Capelongo region; the understanding of the white settlement in the region of Capelongo is presented, in this work, in different contexts. Socio-historical, political, economic and cultural.
